Basel World Fair: Gone and back in a flash

So, I headed to the fair on Friday, and the first thing that hit me upon arriving was wow ,the fair is just "super-duper-uber-what-the-woo-hoo" amazing! Think of it as the Oscars but swap celebs with the working class. The red carpet still applies though. It really is a must see, at least once a lifetime.

Here's the layout. The fair is held in separate buildings, which are called "Halls". So, the company I worked for had it's booth located in Hall 1. Oh, and by booth, I don't mean those hot dog stands. These booths are actually 3 storied buildings! Now, to get a picture of how big the hall is, imagine over 20 of these booths stuffed into it. Get the picture? Yeah...*gasps*.

Since our booth's located in Hall 1, that's the hall where I spent most of my time at. It mainly consists of major watch brands such as Omega, Chanel, Maurice Lacroix, Rolex, Swatch and of course, Porsche Design/Eterna which I worked for. Well, there are more but seriously, I don't think I want to name them all. If you've seen the number of brands at the fair, you'd be swept away too.

About our booth, I'd say it's simple yet modern and classy. It's hard to describe the looks but here's a word -- symmetrical. I'd love to share some pictures but, well, I forgot to bring a camera along. My bad. There were some booths that are bigger than the others, like the Rolex booth for example, which was like 2-in-1. Too rich? Or do they just prefer the siamese twins concept?

Oh, and on that day, the company was having a distributors' event so what does it spell? P-A-R-T-Y! There was champagne, finger foods and this very unique corner called the "Molecular Kitchen". This "kitchen" is really special. All it serves is flower petals coated with chocolate and mango jello. Went ahead and gave it a shot and hmmm, it's one of a kind. However, my words hold no credit since I'm not one who lives to eat. So, throughout the event, I had myself half a glass of champagne and coversed with my colleagues. All in all, it was one hell of a night.

I guess that's all I have since I was only there for a day and a half. Went Friday, returned Saturday. It was really fun just being able to be there even without the event. If fate allows for a second time there, I'm all for it. So, I'll see if I can get some snapshots from the photographer at the event and maybe upload it here but for now, it's time to sign off again. Bye!
