In short, today can be summarized in a lot of ways. One word, hectic. Two words, particularly busy. Three words, taxful and challenging. Four words, all work no play. Five words, you get what I mean.
So, today, I reported in for work earlier than usual cause we have a bunch of guys who are coming in for their in-camp training and for our job -- which is kinda similar to the reception counter at a hotel, we have to check them in. Psyched and all fired up, I arrived at the office, anxiously anticipating how things would turn out.
Halfway through when I was sorting out the documents, I was interrupted by this caffeinated high-pitched voice from nowhere, asking if somebody was there and who it was. Like a slow-witted reaction, I didn't pay any attention initially but in a split second, I had this portentous feeling that it was someone I'd usually prefer not to see and a rough idea of who that might be. Obviously, in my excitement, I had totally forgotten about the existence of that ominous being who prowls the office and occupies the center cubicle. Just as I guessed, the clownish head of 'Auntiesaurus' bobbed out from behind the file cabinets and I thought to myself, note to self, never ever doubt your intuitions. However, it was all too late to hide and she immediately showed her 'I-have-work-for-you' grin after informing me that my senior was reporting sick. That instantly gave me the feeling that doomsday was just round the corner.
The ten minutes where I was alone with her in the office -- it was pure chaos. All the documents that she demanded, I had no access to cause I had already returned the access card to my senior last Thursday. She of course realized that and was also at a loss on what to do. As though lady luck was on my side, my very experienced colleague, Cher How, from our section came in just in time and everything was solved with a snap of the fingers. Pfft, talk about a supervisor who knows nothing about what we do and yet, still happily barking orders. Then, when he went out to the hangar to 'check-in' the guys who were coming in, I quickly followed behind. Purpose? To avoid having the 'Auntiesarus' dump all her work on me again. Truth be spilled, it was like the best decision I had ever made since I was posted there. Spent two hours or so in the hangar, awaiting the arrival of our 'guests'. While waiting, my colleague was surfing the World of Warcraft Armory site and we started chatting about it, admiring other players' masterpiece.
Like stepping into a mall and out, half a day has already passed us by. From there on, it was work, work and more work. It was an exceptionally busy day since our section is down to Cher How and I -- the two of us -- while my senior with two other colleagues were on medical leave and we're expected to cover up for them. As such, I had to handle stuff that I had no prior experience with and is pretty fresh to. Thankfully, the system isn't all that difficult to figure out if you're literate and there's this wonderful invention called the telephone/cellphone. In the end, I was able to cope with the mountainous heap of work and everything turned out just fine. In fact, I kinda like the experience since it's quite challenging and you get to learn stuff along the way. Stuff that even 'Auntiesaurus' don't know about. That ought to give you a huge advantage over her in any debate on work issues.
Lastly, even when it's clearly past knock off time, 'Auntiesaurus' still had me check up the absentees report and worst of all, wants me to deliver a mail for her on my way home. Gosh, persistent much!?

Vrooom...vrooom...
Just got back from watching 'Fast & Furious' with my colleagues and damn, it was quite the ride. Pun may or may not be intended there. The storyline was engaging and tends to keep your adrenaline pumping but as with driving, we're bound to hit some speed bumps or red lights along the road. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the movie as it's not just about street racing. There's a major plot and racing is just a small part of it.
However, what I had my eyes fixed on to for the entire run of the movie were the amazingly gorgeous cars. Everyone in the theater echoed out in awe and disbelief at the sight of these automobile beauties. With each thrust of their gas pedals, I could feel my heart rate rising as though it was the engine itself. Well, mainly that's because of the digital stereo surround system they have in there. It just gives you the feeling that you're in the car itself. A placebo of sorts. Besides the highly attractive cars, what's equally as awesome is the superlative driving skills displayed. They could drift like a leaf on a stream and drive in reverse without a sweat, dodge flaming fuel tanks or speeding cars with all sorts of fanciful swerves and moves. Gosh, they even have these nitro-meth engines thingy that spew fire out from the exhuast pipes. Ain't it awesome or what?
Well, I guess I'm still so engrossed with the cars to even think about anything else from the movie. In fact, all I can pull out from my memory are the cars alone. Cars, cars and more cars. Amazingly gorgeous cars.
Anyway, a little on what's been going on as of late, I've just survived three days of work without my senior's supervision. In other words, I temporarily took over his position while he was on overseas leave. As with what I've said from last week, he has left a huge pair of shoes for me to fill in. Real huge. Like humongous. I was like totally sweating out on the first day since I've to try my hands on more advanced stuff, handle the incoming waves of e-mails, submit my work on time and answer phone calls. Though it kinda sounds terrifying, it actually isn't all that bad. There isn't really a deadline for when I have to submit my work but I just limit myself so that it'd be more of a challenge rather than the normal mind-numbing 8 to 5 routine. Still, it was definitely an interesting experience, one that I've never had before, and I slowly got used to it as the days went by. It's a pity that I'll have to hand all that back to him on Monday. Will really miss the 2 computers and the desk. They've been serving me all day long for the past three days and without them, I couldn't have done anything.
Alright, I think I'll just break off here for now. Hopefully, I'll be able to find something else to blog about soon. Then again, it isn't that hard when you're working in a office filled with all sorts of interesting events everyday. Well, cheers!

Love, faith, perserverance
Those are the widely expressed characteristics possessed by Melinda Gordon, more famously known as the 'Ghost Whisperer'. Having innumerable encounters with the dead who are 'earthbound' due to unfinished business, one would think that she would be able to take deaths with stride. However, that proved to be wrong when we witnessed the loss of her husband during a misfire. Shattered, traumatized and unable to come to terms with the tragedy, Melinda struggled to face the facts, the very fabric of truth, that would change her life. Probably forever.
Despite a major life makeover, Melinda was still able to remain logical due to her affections for the one true love she has ever known. Jim. A man who fully believes in her ability without the slightest hint of doubt and is able to accept her with open arms for who she really is, as a bridge between the living and dead. Her undying love was the beacon of light that guided her through the darkest period of her time, knowing that he'll always be at her side.
Then, it was as though her job of crossing spirits into the 'light' has paid off and she was granted a second chance at it all. However, like all things free, they aren't always perfect. Jim isn't the person she once knew anymore. In fact, it's an entirely different person. Different looks, different personality and most of all, no memories of his life with Melinda. Even though the spirit of Jim has integrated into a different 'human vessel' named Sam, she persisted in trying to bring him back by reigniting those dormant memories, believing that he did it all so that they could always be together, out of sheer faith. That very faith kept her going even when those around her refused to believe.
Finally, it was down to the revelation of her abilities to the highly skeptical Sam. Knowing that it wouldn't be easy for him to accept, Melinda was caught in a dilemma, unsure if she should disclose her ability or to keep it a secret. However, when she was forced to reveal it, Sam took it with a closed mind. Melinda, however, perservered due to the fact that she would be betraying Jim if she gave up on Sam. After several heartbreaking moments and misunderstanding, Jim's consciousness finally resurfaced in Sam and they were reunited once again.
The reason why I'm attracted to the series is that by highlighting the loss suffered by people and the things they go through after, we ourselves get to learn some life lessons. All in all, I highly admire Melinda for being able to cope with her job as a 'whisperer' while having to push herself through the arduous journey, solely relying on something which is incorporeal. If one were able to make use of these three characteristics in everyday life, I'm guessing everyone would be doing so much better.

3rd of April: Birthday Day
I hereby declare the abovementioned day as Birthday Day! Reason, too many birthdays fall on that day for me. First, there was my senior's birthday, then my colleague's birthday, followed up by my grandma's birthday. I mean, one was expected, two was normal, but three!?
Thankfully, I didn't have to fret about trying to attend all three of them since my grandma didn't really have plans for hers while both my colleague and senior decided to just throw one birthday bash together. Ergo, no cloning needed.
Yesterday was quite an awesome day at the office since I got a hands-on session with the stuff I've learnt over the past two weeks. Alone. Well, my senior was on birthday leave so I kinda had to cover for him and god, those were some big shoes he left. I had to deal with numerous calls, settle some workfiles and worst of all, deal with the consistent yapping of not one but two Auntiesaurus-es. At the same time! One of them gave me a list of names for me to print out their particulars but I didn't have access to the webpage required. Went to my colleague for help and he commented that she's crazy and just to ignore it or she'll just use us for every little thing she needs in the future. Hmm, point taken. Nevertheless, it was worth each and every while, just for the experience. It was like I finally got my own desk, though it's not..but, well, it was mine for that day. Come 5.00pm and every single soul in the company were gone without a trace. That's how it is at the office. Poof and they're gone. Very prompt about leaving on time but ironically, tardy about reporting in on time. I stayed back a little longer with a few minority since I had a pretty good idea how packed the ferry service is goning to be. In a sentence, it's an excellent example of sardines in a can.
Rushed back home for a change of clothes and immediately headed for the birthday bash. Mingled a little and stayed for the 'ritualistic cake cutting ceremony'. Left with my senior and some others after that and went to a nearby arcade. If my memory hasn't failed me, it's been 7 years since I've last set foot in one. Joined in some friendly virtual races with my collaegues and lost them all. I guess racing isn't in my blood. Out of all the games I tried my hands on, I wasted two credits for nothing just because the staff there didn't have the practicality to place an 'Out of Order' sign on their faulty machines. After all our credits were used up, we left to get some drinks before scuttling home.
Well, for now, I'm looking forward to next week. Heard that two new guys will be coming in on Monday. Guess that'll remove the 'new guy' status from me. Pretty excited what section they'll be under. Hopefully, one of them will come under us so that we won't be shorthanded after two of our senior leaves in June. Something else I'm looking forward to is our next scheduled outing on Thursday to watch 'Fast & Furious'.
Alrighty then, I'm breaking off here. Will update ASAP. Cheers!
