No regrets
Sort of as a follow up to my previous post, I've felt that life's unpredictibility, topped with a dash of brittleness, has been restricting the options we make in our daily life. It's like being incarcerated in an invisible cage.
Once in a little while, we're sucked into a standstill in life, forced to pick between two slightly differing options. To do or not to do. To go or not to go. One of it is always tempting while the other, not so much. Strange enough, majority of us are inclined to pick the boring option. Hmm...now that raises a question. If you had only one chance to do it, would you have picked the other option?
Then, every single day, our mind is tricked into thinking that time is limitless. We often leave things dangling in the air, thinking oh, there's still tomorrow. I've got tomorrow, they've got tomorrow, we've got tomorrow, everybody's got tomorrow. Time is on our side. But, never do we expect things to just spiral out of control within seconds, cutting off someone's time and taking away their chance to do all the stuff that they had planned for their tomorrow. However, if you were in their shoes, would you have done things any differently?
If you think that you would, for both questions above, what I'd say is to stop pondering in your past. It's already been written. However, the future has yet to be. Your best bet would be to take things with stride and renew the path ahead. Do things a bit differently. Make a change. Don't get held back by being myopic. One lifetime is too short to accomplish everything, much less being stalled by your pessimism. Rethink your decision before you make one lest you have second thoughts. If you do, just take a step forward and work on it. No major changes can be done overnight.
Now, to finish it off, let's sit back and think about how we can better adapt ourselves for the future with quotes from 'If Today Was Your Last Day' by Nickelback:
'Each day's a gift and not a given right
Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less traveled by
Against the grain should be a way of life
What's worth the prize is always worth the fight
Every second counts 'cause there's no second try
So live like you'll never live it twice
Don't take the free ride in your own life
If today was your last day
and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
Would you call old friends you never see?
Reminisce old memories
Would you forgive your enemies?
If today was your last day
Would you make your mark by mending a broken heart?
You know it's never too late to shoot for the stars
Regardless of who you are
So do whatever it takes
'Cause you can't rewind a moment in this life
Let nothing stand in your way
'Cause the hands of time are never on your side'
