3rd of April: Birthday Day
I hereby declare the abovementioned day as Birthday Day! Reason, too many birthdays fall on that day for me. First, there was my senior's birthday, then my colleague's birthday, followed up by my grandma's birthday. I mean, one was expected, two was normal, but three!?
Thankfully, I didn't have to fret about trying to attend all three of them since my grandma didn't really have plans for hers while both my colleague and senior decided to just throw one birthday bash together. Ergo, no cloning needed.
Yesterday was quite an awesome day at the office since I got a hands-on session with the stuff I've learnt over the past two weeks. Alone. Well, my senior was on birthday leave so I kinda had to cover for him and god, those were some big shoes he left. I had to deal with numerous calls, settle some workfiles and worst of all, deal with the consistent yapping of not one but two Auntiesaurus-es. At the same time! One of them gave me a list of names for me to print out their particulars but I didn't have access to the webpage required. Went to my colleague for help and he commented that she's crazy and just to ignore it or she'll just use us for every little thing she needs in the future. Hmm, point taken. Nevertheless, it was worth each and every while, just for the experience. It was like I finally got my own desk, though it's not..but, well, it was mine for that day. Come 5.00pm and every single soul in the company were gone without a trace. That's how it is at the office. Poof and they're gone. Very prompt about leaving on time but ironically, tardy about reporting in on time. I stayed back a little longer with a few minority since I had a pretty good idea how packed the ferry service is goning to be. In a sentence, it's an excellent example of sardines in a can.
Rushed back home for a change of clothes and immediately headed for the birthday bash. Mingled a little and stayed for the 'ritualistic cake cutting ceremony'. Left with my senior and some others after that and went to a nearby arcade. If my memory hasn't failed me, it's been 7 years since I've last set foot in one. Joined in some friendly virtual races with my collaegues and lost them all. I guess racing isn't in my blood. Out of all the games I tried my hands on, I wasted two credits for nothing just because the staff there didn't have the practicality to place an 'Out of Order' sign on their faulty machines. After all our credits were used up, we left to get some drinks before scuttling home.
Well, for now, I'm looking forward to next week. Heard that two new guys will be coming in on Monday. Guess that'll remove the 'new guy' status from me. Pretty excited what section they'll be under. Hopefully, one of them will come under us so that we won't be shorthanded after two of our senior leaves in June. Something else I'm looking forward to is our next scheduled outing on Thursday to watch 'Fast & Furious'.
Alrighty then, I'm breaking off here. Will update ASAP. Cheers!
